On May 22, 2018, Russell made his debut as a playwright by presenting a 10-minute play by the name of BAD RELIGION at the Aurora Theatre during their 2018 Apprentice Showcase. The story is loosely based on the life of pop-star Frank Ocean and the aftermath of his first mainstream solo album "Channel Orange". BAD RELIGION takes a look a black male masculinity and follows the story of the main character, Ace as he tries to figure out who he wants to be in the world. The play was directed by Atlanta director Jireh Breon Holder, and the cast includes Christian Magby (Thug), Branden Cleveland (Oreo), Seun Soyemi (Gangsta), Russell Alexander II (Ace), & Daisean Garrett (Hotep).
